MTS Agreement Accepted by Membership
On October 28, all ballots cast by members in the MTS Allstream contract ratification vote were counted by the Local 7 Election Committee and scrutineers. The results are that the majority have voted in favour of accepting the three-year tentative deal which was presented, and which includes wage increases of 1% effective December 20, 2010, 1% effective December 20, 2011 and 2% effective December 20, 2012.
The union has been advised by the company that members will receive retro pay back to December 20, 2010, and the 1% wage increase on the December 16 pay cheque. Members will see the 1% wage increase for the 2nd year of the contract, effective December 20, 2011, on the December 30, 2011 pay cheque. New CEP Local 7 Secretaries
Following the nominations which were invited from all CEP Local 7 members, the two secretary positions for the executive of CEP Local 7 have been filled. The new Local Secretary is Heather Quinn. The new Membership Secretary is Allison Mankewich. Congratulations to both successful candidates.
