Leave to Appeal Pension Decision Sought

The CEP Local 7 Executive, after seeking advice from its pension lawyer, has decided to join with IBEW, TEAM and the retirees in seeking leave to appeal the recent Manitoba Court of Appeal decision concerning the MTS Pension Plan to the Supreme Court of Canada. A party wishing to be heard by Canada's highest court must first obtain permission to proceed from a panel of three judges of the Supreme Court. More details.

Decision Reached on Pension Issue

The Court of Appeal of Manitoba has reached a decision on the issue of Telecommunication Employees Association of Manitoba Inc. et al v. Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. et al conceerning the pension plan. The end result is that all claims which were advanced as against MTS by way of this court action have been dismissed.
